This report describes the findings of visits to three sites that researchers identified as strong implementers of CTE programs of study. It reviews each program's strengths, identifies factors that contributed to the development of POS, and examines how the sites have implemented the 10 elements of POS defined by the Department of Education.

This interim report presents preliminary findings of a five-year study of South Carolina's Personal Pathways to Success Initiative. The study investigated the effect of this statewide reform on the creation of career pathways and programs of study and whether POS led to improved high school and postgraduation outcomes. The study also explored the influence of the availability of school and community resources and future employment opportunities on the development of POS and the outcomes of students enrolled in them.

This interim report presents preliminary research for a longitudinal study that identified and described "mature" POS to understand how they work and why. The study used a "backwards mapping" technique to investigate how relationships between colleges and partnering high schools began and how POS are structured. The year 3 report presents the results of surveys of student perspectives on POS.

This interim report describes the status as of July 2010 of three field-based longitudinal studies that examined how states have implemented programs of study. It also presents the findings of a fourth study that used case studies to describe POS implementation in six states during the first half of 2010.
